RDRWA Collaborates on Riparian Planting event

On September 22 -23, with funding through the Watershed Restoration and Resiliency Program (WRRP) and in collaboration with Trout Unlimited Canada, Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA)hosted workdays for bioengineering along Cabin Creek. Cabin Creek is located in the headwaters of the Red Deer River Basin. Undesignated off-highway vehicle trails and crossings near the creek were reclaimed to prevent negative impacts on Bull Trout habitat. The event proved highly successful, allowing 40 volunteers to utilize bioengineering techniques by planting willows and dispersing woody debris across the reclaimed sites, ensuring their steady progress toward rehabilitation. The collective efforts helped conserve the ecological health of Cabin Creek and benefit source water protection.
