Miguel Mendoza and Reuben Grendus, students of SAIT’s Integrated Water Management (IWM) program recently completed their capstone project to update and improve the quality and inventory of the Red Deer River Basin standard maps. The project was initiated because RDRWA noticed some discrepancies in subwatershed delineation in historical maps. Their main task was to update sub-watershed boundaries in the map inventory and improve data visualization for effective communication. Work involved including specific features, highlighting important elements and effectively displaying geospatial data.
Maps created by the students will be useful for our communications and upcoming State of the Watershed reporting and planning. The capstone project was initiated in January and completed in April 2023.
Thanks Reuben and Miguel!
