The RDRWA would like to say thank you to all of our partners, supporters, Board of Directors, members and funders for continuing to engage with us on the health of the Red Deer River Watershed. Your support through participation at our forums, community events, social media, and sharing knowledge on watershed health with your network helps make the Red Deer River Watershed an even better place to live and visit.
Some shared successes for 2022 include:
- Completed state of watershed assessment and integrated watershed planning through riparian intactness assessments and restoration activities in 7 subwatersheds.
- Released a new video “Thinking Upstream : Native Trout in the Red Deer River Watershed” and are working with partners to support native trout recovery.
- Reached over 500 students through education, outreach and water literacy initiatives.
- Held our first in-person Fall Forum ‘Reconnecting with the Red Deer’ in 2 years.
- Reached over 4,000 followers on social media.
We have an exciting 2023 planned with environmental stewardship projects, watershed planning and research projects and outreach opportunities to raising public awareness. Upcoming events include a February riparian health workshop, our March Spring Forum, and RDRWA’s casino fundraiser in late May. We will also be working to update our state of watershed report and initiate a new riparian intactness mapping project in the Raven, Rosebud, Michichi subwatersheds. And as always, we will continue to engage with you on our watershed assessment and planning process.
We wish you a safe and happy holiday season and we look forward to reconnecting with you in the New Year.
Francine, Kelly and Rosemarie
